When her aunt Dete finds a new job in Frankfurt, she takes Heidi to her grandfather in the Swiss mountains. The grouchy Alm-Öhi is not at all pleased that he has to take care of the little girl, but soon he embraces the little whirlwind and a unique friendship develops between the two.
